Our Disability Equality Training gives an excellent introduction to all employees and management. The aim of this training is to help your employees to be more confident and more informed in their day-to-day dealings with disabled people. We offer both half day and full day courses including and EDI Level 1 accreditation in Disability Awareness.

Our interactive workshop will be bespoke to each individual client. But below is some sample content for the course:
- Getting to grips with the legal requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act in relation to your organisation
- Clarify the extent of the your obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act
- Definiting disability and discrimination
- Look at ways in which you could improve access for disabled people
- Examine the various models of disability
- Explore and highlight your own and others attitudes towards disabled people
The course will also give practical information on improving access to people with a range of disabilities. It is highly interactive and fun using sketches and films to help delegates have a deeper understanding and work more effectively with disabled people. We also give a free checklist for conforming with the broader aspects of access regulations.

| Disability Equality Training Level 1 VRQ |
There are a number of new duties placed on services and organisations across all sectors to ensure they do not discriminate against disabled people. EDI has developed a Level 1 Award in Disability Awareness which aims to assist organisations in complying with current legislation on disability and to develop individual employees to understand the wider context of disability and how this should be put into practice within their workplace. This qualification is also designed to challenge individual's attitudes towards disability and to explore the barriers that are faced by disabled people.
This qualification is suitable for learners working in any sector who may come into contact with disabled people and who wish to gain a basic understanding of the difference between disability and impairment. Our trainers are an approved EDI centre.
Course Aims
The aims of this qualification are to allow candidates to develop knowledge and understanding of disability and impairment Course Outline/Learning Objectives - Identify what is considered as disabled
- Identify that there is key legislation relating to discrimination and equality issues about disability
- Identify the attitudinal and institutional barriers faced by disabled children and adults
- Identify the social model of disability
- Identify the difference between disability and impairment
- Identify the history of the social model, where it came from and how it was developed
- Identify disability as a rights issue
- Identify disability as a socio economic issue
- Identify language about disability
- Identify how the use of language about disability shows an awareness of the issues
- Identify that language should be self determined
- Identify how the social model can be put into practise.
